Gary O’Connor, an innovative and trusted leader with extensive experience renewing and growing mission-driven organizations, has joined The Osborne Group. Known as a passionate advocate, Gary achieves organizational breakthroughs by forging innovative partnerships, applying sound management practices and creativity to solve intractable problems. Gary has recently held positions as the CEO or Executive Director at Gambling Research Exchange Ontario, Canadian Diabetes Association and The Association of Ontario Health Centres.
During his career, Gary has renewed and rebuilt several non-profit organizations after their loss of funding. He secured new funding by matching organizational missions to government priorities, restructured operations and service delivery to reduce overhead costs and enhance program delivery.
He led the development of an advocacy strategy and advocate training program that achieved a $105 million increase in funding for Community Health Centres in Ontario and achieved a $741 million increase in base funding for the Ontario Diabetes Strategy. He also created capital fundraising campaigns for The Toronto Historical Board, The Bruce Trail Association and the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum.
